AFL Technical Training Courses have been reviewed and certified by the Fiber Optics Association (FOA). This process brings AFL’s Training Program up to an international level of certification. The Fiber Optic Association has been organized as an international non-profit professional society for the fiber optic industry. Its charter is to develop educational programs, certify fiber optic technicians, approve fiber optic training courses, participate in standards-making processes and generally promote fiber optics. This certification means that Technicians who take AFL’s Technical Training Courses can apply for FOA certification and take the required FOA exams. The certifications are for; Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT), Certified Fiber Optic Technician for FTTx (CFxT), Advanced Fiber Optic Technician (AFOT), and Certified Fiber Optic Specialist (CFOS). As part of the training program certification, Patrick Dobbins, Manager AFL Training was required to take and pass the FOA’s Certified Fiber Optic Specialist /Instructor (CFOS/I) exam. This means that he is now certified as a specialist/instructor by the FOA.

The AFL Technical Training Programs are now more meaningful to potential students by recognizing their achieving a level of competence in the fiber optics field. For the end user looking for competent fiber optic personnel, it is the knowledge that this person has demonstrated knowledge and ability in the field and has documented experience and competence.
