AFL Telecommunications Dedicates Yoshino Cherry Blossom Gift from Tak Kameoka, Vice President, at retirement
Spartanburg, South Carolina - July 21, 2008
AFL Telecommunications dedicated a Yoshino Cherry Blossom tree to Tak Kameoka, Vice President of Technology and Customer Relations, as he retired on Friday, July 18. Jody Gallagher, President and CEO of AFL Telecommunications, as well as a host of Fujikura managers from Tokyo Japan, were on site to celebrate this momentous occasion.
Kameoka purchased 5 cherry blossom trees for associates to enjoy as they walk the campus of AFL. “I wanted to give something to AFL as I retired,” said Kameoka during the dedication ceremony. “I’m proud that AFL accepted my gift, but the dedication is more than I expected.” The dedication included a plaque that will lie near one tree in the courtyard of the AFL campus. Additional ceremonies were held over the weekend to commemorate his retirement.
Kameoka has been with Fujikura Ltd., AFL Telecommunications’ parent company, for 42 years. Having held various positions in both the telecommunications and automotive groups, he was named Vice President of Business Development for AFL Telecommunications in April 2005, the same year that Fujikura assumed complete ownership of AFL Telecommunications.
Kameoka reflected on the cherry blossoms that bloom during the spring stating that he enjoys the flowers and hope AFL’s associates would do so as well. Kameoka will retire to his home in Japan.
